Hua Hsu received his PhD from the History of American Civilization program at Harvard University. He is a contributor to the New Yorker and his first book, A Floating Chinaman: Fantasy and Failure Across the Pacific, was published in 2016 by Harvard University Press. He served on the editorial board of A New Literary History of America (2009) and was previously a New America fellow. His scholarly interests include transpacific literary history, American intellectual history, cultural studies, and arts criticism. He serves on the board of the Asian American Writers' Workshop in New York.
